JOOM - totally. I was in the library so I had to control myself, but really, every time I think of this I giggle. I want to find out who wrote that and say, "thank you!"

No doubt. Maybe THAT'S the reason we have to pray to God only. Hmmmm. I may have to give this a bit more thought.

I know. Whenever I thought about being a goddess in heaven or heavenly mother I only ever thought of one. This really changes things, even though polygamy has always been there it's just never really been out there.

I hate to be contrarian (well no, not really, I actually live for it) but I am betting that comment was completely serious. There is a serious thing from the early church about Elohim having lots of wives because, natch, he lived the full-on celestial law, which means lots o' wives.
I honestly think there is something to this idea of "no praying to MiH" because you know she's just one of many (no offence there, JOOM :-). When I was teaching five-year olds in primary it was actually in the manual that way: "We are children of our Heavenly Father and a heavenly mother." You can say a lot with the clever use of CAPS and not caps.
That is probably dead serious and as such, let me state that I am pissed about it. No, you can't talk me out of it. ;-) - Thursday, June 07, 2007

Hm, you really think they were serious? That never even entered my mind. I guess because it never occurred to me while I was TBM that I had more than one Mother in Heaven. Or that there was more than one. I know that polygamy is taught in the church as something that may/will happen after we die, but it just never entered the picture in my mind. Hm.
Wow, they really printed it like that?! The sad thing is I probably never would have notice that before. Or if I had it wouldn't have bothered me. It does now, though. Which I think is a good thing. - Thursday, June 07, 2007

I choose to laugh and be merry and take it as a snarky remark. Why let them continue to bring me down?
My daughters will grow up understanding the absurdity of it all and will brow beat anyone who thinks otherwise. - Friday, June 08, 2007

I know when I'm in a store and some kid says "Mom" I don't even pay attention...my own kids have to address me by my first name in order to get my attention.
Too bad we aren't "allowed" to know MiH's first name or we could call on her to straighten some of this sh-t out! - Friday, June 08, 2007

Jer - Glad to see you out and about! I'm glad to hear that you will raise your daughters to brow beat. I need to learn that skill. Gluby is patiently teaching me how.
Astarte Moonsilver - How sad that I never even thought of Mother in Heaven as having a name. Ugh.
BR - You make me smile. Thanks! :) - Saturday, June 16, 2007
But how can you be sure you get the right mother in heaven?
